Good, Solid Grill with One Issue, July 12, 2010 This review is from: Ducane 31742101 Affinity 4100 48,000-BTU Natural-Gas Grill (Lawn & Patio) I was so tempted to buy a similarly priced grill from [store] that had a whole bunch more features, but after spending some time in the grilling forums, I decided what I really needed was a basic grill that will last. After thinking about it, the 3 year old grill I was replacing basically deteriorated to the point of no return. I'd have to replace all of the components to keep it going. The old grill also did not provide even heat. After much research, I decided on the Ducane because it had good, long lasting parts and was made and backed by Weber. It is a basic grill and I'm glad I chose it. It heats up quickly and evenly and provides a nice, big surface to grill on. The side tables are also good sized. Assembly was simpler and easier, with fewer parts, than previous grills I have owned. And, even though it is made in China, the level of quality is noticebly high. There are no stainless steel surfaces, by the way, which may not be apparent in photos. The surface is a speckled gray... Read more

We NG users laugh at you pathetic propane users lugging your heavy cans to the store and back. While you propaners tremble at the prospect of running out of fuel just as the steaks go on, we NG users have no worries other than whether our drink is freshly topped off. But I apologize if I come off as a monocle-wearing gassist.
All is not garlic toast and roses for our exclusive club. We natural-gas grillers only have so many choices among grilling hardware. Weber/Ducane, or a few lower-quality brands that offer a natural-gas conversion kit as an option.
Having just given up my Weber 1100 purchased fourteen years ago, my first impulse was to look at new Weber models. However, I wanted to step up to a bigger grill. Something with four burners instead of three, and a lot of grill space. To obtain a 4-burner Weber, one must graduate to the Weber Summit series of grills. My last two BBQs have been from major name "do it yourself stores" and didn't last as long as I would like for what I paid for them. I wanted a grill with the quality and outstanding reputation as a Weber, but I could not afford that. The Ducane BBQ is the best alternative. My family grills about 4 to 5 times a week and this grill hasn't changed since the day I put it together. It starts up instantly. All burners heat evenly. I can grill direct and indirect heat easily as the temperature is always a constant. I have been very pleased with this grill as it has met every expectation that I have wanted in a BBQ.
